Earlier this year, the Embassy of France in Sweden and the French-Swedish Association for Research launched an open call for the second edition of the French-Swedish Prize for Research. The prize covers fundamental and applied research, and its main goal is to reward scientific contributions from young researchers in two areas: "Biodiversity and human health" and "Sustainable development, water and innovation".
The 2010 edition is sponsored by Veolia Vatten and L'Oréal Sverige The jury has now pronounced three winners of each category. Among the rewards is a scholarship in a French laboratory. More information will follow in the wake of the award ceremony that will take place on 18 November.
Winners within Biodiversity and Human Health.
Winners within Sustainable Development, Water and Innovation.
Why Veolia Vatten has chosen to sponsor The Prize for Research 2010
Veolia Vatten is well aware that environmental requirements will be far more stringent in tomorrow's world. Environmental issues require research to be specifically geared to ecology. The future will depend on our ability to design and develop technologies replacing those of the 20th century dealing with drinking water, waste management, power generation and greenhouse gases.
We encourage innovation
In this context, innovation is more than ever a priority. We encourage innovation, and that is why we also encourage The French-Swedish Prize for Research. The success of our programs is linked to interdisciplinary cooperation, complementary relationships between public and private research, interaction with some of the best scientific brains in the world and partnerships with the most innovative start-ups.
