Municipal partners

We manage the operation of the water and wastewater facilities in Järfälla since 2007. Järfälla is the third municipality in Sweden, which has contracted Veolia Vatten to operate its water and wastewater facilities.

The operation includes:

• 17 sewage and stormwater pumping stations
• Three booster stations for water
• 251 km water mains
• 244 km sewage pipelines
• 202 km stormwater pipes

The water that is distributed in Järfälla comes from Lake Mälaren and it is purified by Norrvatten at Görvälns waterworks located in Järfälla.

Most of the wastewater from Järfälla headed to Stockholm's water treatment plant in Bromma. A small part of the municipality's northern part is led through a sewage tunnel to Käppala Association sewage treatment plant at Lidingö. The treated wastewater is then passed out in Salt Lake.

The contract is a so called general construction for four years with one year extension. This means that Järfälla owns and retains responsibility for operating their water and wastewater facilities. We operates in accordance with instructions issued by the municipality and maintain water and sewage plants on order from the municipality. We provide specialist knowledge, staff and the necessary machinery.

Järfälla customer support retains the responsibility for access matters, billing and meter reading. Issues concerning service request is handled by Veolia Vatten customer support.
